Peach cobbler is up there in my top three favorite desserts. We eat a lot of BBQ in Texas and peach cobbler is a common item found on most BBQ menus– I can’t stop myself from ordering it when I see it!
Because of that, I consider myself to be somewhat of a peach cobbler connoisseur. The peaches need to be soft with a little bite, not too sweet or overpowered by cinnamon, and the crust can’t be too mushy.
I’m always trying new recipes in search of the perfect one, and this is my favorite slow cooker option. Set it and forget it without heating up your kitchen!

How to Make Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler
With the help of a slow cooker, this recipe couldn’t be easier. It is basically “dump and go” or “set and forget!” Here are the basic steps to making slow cooker peach cobbler:
- Peel and slice the peaches, mix with brown sugar.
- Combine remaining dry ingredients.
- Spread peaches in slow cooker, top with dry ingredients and pats of butter.
- Cook for three hours and enjoy!
Can I use different fruit to make this cobber?
Possibly? I haven’t tried it using any other fruit. I’m not sure what ratios you would need because it will depend on the size of fruit you use (peaches are obviously larger than blueberries). While you can substitute frozen peaches (no need to thaw), don’t use canned peaches as they will be far to sweet and goopy.
This recipe is similar in method to a “dump cake,” without the pre-made cake mix or canned fruit. I love quick dump desserts, like this Pumpkin Dump Cake (that is also made in the slow cooker), but I prefer to use fresh peaches for this slow cooker peach cobbler.
Another thing that this slow cooker peach cobbler has in common with “dump desserts” is that it isn’t the prettiest dessert when finished. In fact, it is kind of ugly. Don’t worry though, it will look better once you scoop it into serving bowls and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream hides a multitude of sins!
How to Serve Peach Cobbler
This peach cobbler is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream on top. I like to serve mine piled high on a plate, like these photos show, or in individual ramekins. When I reheat it the next day I scoop some into a mug and add a generous splash of heavy cream- so good!!
Tips for Making the Best Peach Cobbler
- Use fresh peaches if possible. The peaches are the star of this dessert and you want them to be high quality. Use frozen if you must, but never canned.
- Don’t stir this dessert once you add it all to the slow cooker- just let it do it’s thing until the end!
- This recipe can also be made in the oven. Prepare the peach filling and spread it in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Melt the butter and stir it into the dry ingredients until it resembles moist crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the peaches and bake at 350 degrees F for 35-45 minutes, until the peaches are tender and the topping is golden and crisp.
